I have followed numerous optimization guides on these forums and the web to still be left with an SSD that is under-performing.

Here is an image of a benchmark I ran.

Not sure if this is a driver issue or what? Bad SSD? I did have stability issues on my first windows install and I had to reinstall.

System Specs:

Storage: Samsung 840 Pro 256GB (Running in AHCI Mode)
MOBO: ASUS M4A89GTD-PRO/USB3
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T BLACK EDITION
FAN: Zalman CNPS9500A-LED
GRAPHICS: PNY Performance GeForce GTX275
MEMORY: Patriot Gamer 2 Series 4GB (2x2gb) PGD34G1333ELK (2 of these)
CASE: Antec DF-85 Full ATX Tower
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

Your AS-SSD results show msahci - OK, which means that you are using Microsoft's default AHCI drivers.

Install AMD's latest Chipset/AHCI drivers and see if that gets you better performance. http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/raid_windows.aspx#2

Also, although your motherboard has 6 SATA 3 (6Gb/s) ports, connect your SSD to the 1st port (SATA1) and see if that makes any difference.

Installed AMD SATA Drivers for AHCI and saw a boost across all benchmarks.

Sadly the Random Read is still very under-performing and all other benchmarks could still use a significant boost.

What else can I try?

Sorry, don't know what else to suggest. Hopefully other Forum members will have suggestions.

You went from a total score of 503 to a total score of 857. That is an approximately 70% increase.

Other AS-SSD benchmarks for your model show 4K Random Read results in the 30's, which is in line with your results. What results were you expecting?

Here's a link where you can look at benchmarks from other review sites:

Edit: nevermind, someone already answered with what I was going to say. All of your speeds look good except for the 4k-64Thrd. Not sure what the issue is there.
