I have a Toshiba 2.5" hard drive that came out of my old HP laptop. I am attempting to recover files off of the drive. I have it hooked up to a IDE/SATA to USB adapter that is plugged in to a PC. The drive does not show up in My Computer, but it does show up in Windows Disk Manager. When I tried to access it I received an "In Page" error. I ran a chkdsk f:/r from the DOS command which ran fine for about 5 hours. Then I received the following error at around 29:

Windows replaced bad clusters in file 21388
of name \PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG Free\incavi.avm.
The disk does not have enough space to replace bad clusters
detected in file 22971 of name .

An unspecified error occurred.

I started the chkdsk f:/r over again and received the same message.

Then I got this:

C:\Documents and Settings\Chris>chkdsk f:
The type of the file system is NTFS.

WARNING! F parameter not specified.
Running CHKDSK in read-only mode.

CHKDSK is verifying files (stage 1 of 3)...
File record segment 5844 is unreadable.
File record segment 5845 is unreadable.
File record segment 5846 is unreadable.
File record segment 5847 is unreadable.
File verification completed.

Errors found. CHKDSK cannot continue in read-only mode.

C:\Documents and Settings\Chris>f:
Error performing inpage operation.

Is there anything further I can do? Obviously there is still stuff on the drive. I appreciate any suggestions. I am new at this any appreciate any and all advice. THANKS!
