Well, as you know im going to be building a PC. At first I was thinking about going AMD with their Phenom II X4 965 chip, but its discontinued on www.newegg.com, and www.ncix.us and I can't find it anywhere! So I was thinking maybe 3rd Gen i3 but I'm still kind of iffy on the i3's. Do you have any alternatives?

BTW: My monitor resolution is 1920x1080...all I want to do is play skyrim at 1080p at 60FPS on ~High...Because the laptop I have now can't play anything at 1080p xD

Approximate Purchase Date: Within this Year, Probably

Budget Range: (600 ish- less)

Things I am not (MAYBE) purchasing because I already have them:
Monitor
Keyboard
Mouse
Speakers/Headphones
RAM
Case
CPU Cooler (I Have an H110 that I can't use lol so if you can find a decent case that can fit one for at least maybe 60ish$ I'd Be Greatful)

Parts to Upgrade:

1) MOBO
Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3 ATX AM3+

2) CPU (prefer AMD)
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz

OR

AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor

3) MEMORY
Corsair Vengeance Red 1866Mhz 16gb (Before you say anything it was a gift lol)

4) VIDEO CARD
XFX Radeon HD 7850 1GB Video Card

5) HARD DRIVE (prefer close to 1 TB for storage)
Western Digital WD Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1682...

6) POWER SUPPLY (would this be sufficient wattage for this pc build?)
Corsair CX 500W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified

7) DVD BURNER/DRIVE
ASUS 24X DVD Burner

8) CASE
Bitfenix Survivor Black

(?) Do I need extra fans?

FX-6300 is more powerful than Phenom II X4 now. And it beats i3 esp. in CPU intensive games.

U'r meaning FX-6100? FX-6300 is quite better than its predecessor now. Plus it's 10-20 bucks more expensive than 965 but has two more cores, better 32nm process (means better overclocking potential and less heat) and more L3 cache. And also fix the low efficiency problem of FX-6100. Isn't it a good deal?

Dude, that CPU is fast as ballz! I put it in my friend's PC and he loves it. Only idiot fanboys tell you they don't like the FX 6300. If you're playing on a 60Hz monitor, or even a HD TV, you won't notice the difference between a i7 and even a FX 6300. The FX 6300 is the FX 6100 perfected I guess you could say. FX 6300 runs at a lower latency.

Let the facts speak clearly using skyrim as the game of preference what do you believe is the better cpu ?
amd 6300 = min 49fps avg = 59.2
i3 2120 = min 63fps avg =73.8
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-processor-fr...

My preference would still be the 6300 but the i3 is a great cpu and even going forward is a excellent choice to start a first build..

Well, yes, okay the i3 is faster in this game...but what about most other games. I expected an answer like this because i've seen it on razethew0rld on youtube.

BTW: Will The setup in the OP be balanced or have like bottlenecks or anything (If it's something I should be worried about.) ? If it does (And/or Might) PLEASE tell me.

Oh, and so many more questions, is the 7870 (Non GhZ Edition) Good for games like Far Cry 3, Skyrim, TF2, WoT, and stuff?

It's good but better get ghz edition if it's only 20-30 bucks more. HD 7870>GTX 660 but now GTX 760 is selling at $240-250 u could consider it too if u could afford it. GTX 760>HD 7950 (slightly inferior than GTX 760)>HD 7870

The 6300 and 7870 is a good combo. Skyrim should be around 50-60 fps @1080p depending on your game mods. If you look at the link, only in fc3 does the 6300 beat the i3. Going forward games like fc3 will become more and more the norm thus benefiting the 6 core 6300 more than the i3 hyper threaded dual core
