No matter what keyboard I plug into my computer, the number 8 above the letters, will not work. The only way that I can type the number 8 is by using the number pad.
try go to command prompt (Start -> Run -> CMD ) and type in: sfc /scannow
This will find and repair corrupt files in windows, I can't say if thats the solution, but you could try.
Take off the key and look underneath it to see if it is visibly broken
It doesn't matter what keyboard it is, the 8 key still doesn't work. Unless you think the exact same thing is wrong with 3 different keyboards, that isn't the problem. I'm near certain that this is a software problem.
It must be software based, if it just started doing this one day then if you have a backup from before then you could restore your computer to the previous way it was

It started doing this a while ago and I have been looking for a solution for a few weeks. It's also possible that i didn't notice it from when I re installed windows a month or two ago. Right now I don't have a backup to restore to anyways so... that won't work.

Wow. I didn't think of running that scan. Thanks for bringing it up because it worked!
