Hi all, I am setting up a new home network. I am having 7 rooms run with cat 6 cable. I want to set up a NAS for my home movies/computer backup storage. I want wireless as well. The house is big 4700 sq feet and 3 stories. I would like to have gigabit speed ( understanding its wired only) and I am looking for suggesetions for both wireless router, switch (I dont think a router has 8 ports incorporated) and a decent nas. I'm not looking for anything huge prob 2-3tb.
2nd question. In 2 of my rooms that has the cable run, I need to "split"it between a computer and a magic jack. Would a simple switch in the room work? I appolgise for my novice questions but would appreaciate any help you could give.
Thanks!

Yes, you can...

Yes, you can daisy chain switches. Obviously if you connect two switches with a 1Gb link, then any devices talking between the two swtiches will have to share that 1Gb of bandwidth, but that should rarely be an issue.

The amount of daisy chaining you do should not really be an issue with any design you can afford.

Be careful not to link too many switch's together without managing VLANs otherwise when a computer sends out a broadcast it will go to every single active port on that LAN. Too many any your speed will decrease dramatically.

Sorry for my confusion, what is this magic jack think you speak of?
