most of it is marketing. i can list the basic conclusions on each board

asus

-great vrm
-great software (actually the best if you ask me)
-good onboard sound based off of a alc1150 codec

msi

-onboard sound is improved
-vrm quality isnt nearly the same as asus or gigabyte
-onboard killer nic is nice for networking prioritzations. you can arrange for programs to have different levels of internet bandwidth. same goes for the asus and gigabyte to a lower degree, but the killer nic is very nice for that. the other 2 boards however still have a great all around nic from intel

gigabyte

-same quality of vrm compared to the hero board, but at half the cost
-onboard sound is the standard stuff. nothing out of the ordinary
-software is...

-software is decent. its rather new as gigabyte had to rework everything compared to last gen so there are bound to be some bugs
-basically a no-frills serious board for a great cost

if i were you id get the gigabyte. its cheap, it has everything you need, and quality is just as great as the ROG boards. software isnt a big issue when you only really use it once

I was always leaning towards Asus because of its' reputation. I'm probably going with Intel because I heard it kicks out the most performance and very reliable. Anything you else want to tell me?
