My current build looks like this:

[CPU]: AMD Phenom II x4 965 @ 3.4 ghz
[RAM]: Corsair Vengeance 8GB
[GPU]: EVGA GeForce GTX 660 SCE

I built this PC earlier this year and I love the way it performs, however when I was building this PC I made a few choices I regret (such as an AMD Mobo and processor). I've come to terms with this though and accepted that I will be using AMD because I refuse to go on a Mobo hunt again (ended up buying 3 the entire time I was building this and 2/3 were DOA. No RMA because I couldn't keep the packaging boxes. Basically wasted about $375). That being said I'm thinking of upgrading. I'd like to start with the CPU because it's certainly not the best and I can see where it ends up bottlenecking my performance. I would like a new CPU around the price range of $125 - $175.

I really don't know about the GPU. Was it stupid of me to get a 2012 GPU in 2013 or does it not make a difference? Would I struggle to run the next generation of games because of this card?

EDIT: I should add, I do not run games in high res (1080). I play 1600x900. I don't plan to upgrade my monitor because I love it and it's the perfect size for me :D.

I can't see how you're helping, but to address the first part: Yeah I figured that out. And I don't know if it'll be good thus me asking.

GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3 AM3+ AMD 970

Yes it can. I've just got to save up the funding now. :)

If you're planning to OC, you should go for a new board with 8+2 or 6+2+2 power phase design.
