I am building my first computer build mostly for photo shop but I heard if you have a hdtv tuner card with windows 8 you can record live tv.

This is my build mostly for Photoshop but I was looking for a HDTV Tuner card and seen some that go in you USB port.

I was wondering if someone could recommend one or if anyone knows if there is one that would also do the work of the digital cable box since I get all the stations already. Then I could control everything on the PC and not have to fool with the box also.

Thanks for any help!!!!

Hi,

I have a few recommendations:

http://www.amazon.com/Ceton-InfiniTV-USB-4-channel-Cabl...

http://www.amazon.com/SiliconDust-HDHomeRun-CableCard-3...

http://www.amazon.com/Ceton-InfiniTV-PCIe-4-channel-Cab...

You will need a cable card which is 3-5 dollars a month to get non local channels if you have a service like FiOS. The cable card will decode all the digitally encrypted TV channels offered through your provider. You won't even need a cable box, just plug coaxial into TV tuner alongside cable card.

It will be a small card you receive that you insert into the TV tuner that will decode premium channels that you receive.

So if I buy the SiliconDust HDHomeRun PRIME CableCard TV 3-Tuner HDHR3-CC

That would be my cable card correct no need to get one from Comcast and I still would have to purchase the Ceton InfiniTV 4 PCIe - 4-channel Internal Cable TV Tuner Card for Cable-card

Is that correct I am a newbie and building my first computer Thanks again for the help!

No, you can purchase any one of those TV tuners to use. Once you buy one you will need to purchase a cable card from Comcast for a small fee every month to decode premium channels from your provider. You insert the cable card into the TV tuner.
