What kind of RAM can I put in a SuperMicro Server MOBO?

I recently have gained possession of a lightly used server that uses this board as its motherboard:

The only issue is that the RAM was removed when I received it and I can't be sure what kind it takes. The specs say it can support DDR2 ECC unbuffered SDRAM. What about registered RAM? I know registered and buffered are similar terms but they do mean different things. Right now I have been offered a good deal on some RAM out of an HP Proliant server specs here:

Would that work in this board if not would regular DDR2 Desktop RAM work? Or do I have to buy server RAM? What about the difference between rx4 and rx8? I must admit I am a bit new to the world of server building even though the only missing part is the RAM. I just feel like I lack some key details before I can make a purchase.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Your motherboards only unbuffered ECC and Non-ECC memory. It does not support Registered (buffered) ECC memory. Yes, normal DDR2 Desktop memory will work. For me the memory link didn't work but looking at the url I assume it must be compatible as it is PC2-5300 2GB. Do not go for ECC memory unless you are running your system has a server. Non-ECC memory is faster and better.

Try the below links for memory or compare your existing memory with the ones listed here - (Click on ECC and Non-ECC for links)
Non-ECC
ECC

Cheers, mate!!

No, the memory will not work. The memory is a Registered ECC memory so it will not work. Try getting an ECC or Non-ECC memory, something similar to the memory which I've linked in my earlier post.

Cheers!!
