I have a problem alot of the games i wanna play i cant play propperly beacause my computer is so slow at times mainly when gaming i currently have a amd sempron 145 2.8ghz on a asrock n68 vs3 fx motherboard but i need a new cpu that is £70 or under uk prefferebly new and that is compatible with my motherboard and over 3ghz your help will be much appreciated. And no its not my graphics card beacause its a brand new amd radeon 7750 and also its kinda needs to be at least quad core

Solution
Yes they are but i would strongly reccomend 6300

Save and get it

U must be reading that people say that "theres no need for eight core there is no game foreseable future that could even utilize 4 cores at their full potential"
This statement is UNTRUE

Even present games like crysis 3 utilizes full 6 cores of phenom ll 1090t so u ll need a eight core for future proofing
This is the reason that future consoles like xbox1 and ps4 wuold be having 8 cores

So i wud not reccomend 955 its a quad core
The AMD FX-6300 would be a good bet for you. If you can catch it on sale, it should be within budget. The 6300 is a very good budget gaming CPU, and also has some serious multithreaded capability, and some great overclocking chops.

+1. With these new consoles coming up, with 8 thread capability, there is is a strong possibility that more games will become multithreaded, so grab all the cores you can. The FX 6300 is a bang for buck king, and it overclocks like a beast as well. Of course, grab the 8320 if you can afford it, then OC it to 8350 levels. That will also yield incredible bang for buck.

There are no indications that games will scale beyond 2-4 cores anytime soon, Crysis 3 scales to 4 or more but ultimately gaming performance is dependent upon low latency and high single threaded performance. Clock for clock the Phenom II x 4 965BE despite having two fewer cores and lower clocks can compete with the hex core FX6300 in gaming. While I am not doubting the FX6300 is a great selection, the OP is on a budget and rather than over extend he can still get a chip which is night and day for a year ahead of his Sempron, it will be to him like stepping into a sports car.
