Hey guys,
is there a big difference in gaming between the 3220 and the g2120? Both are dual core. Pentium g2120 is at 3.1 GHz and costs €60. The i3 3220 is at 3.3 GHz and costs me €102. I want a system that is purely for gaming. No editing or recording.

Thanks in advance!

I wud rather get this

Reason

U must be reading that people say that "theres no need for eight core there is no game foreseable future that could even utilize 4 cores at their full potential"
This statement is UNTRUE

Even present games like crysis 3 utilizes full 6 cores of phenom ll 1090t so u ll need a eight core for future proofing
This is the reason that future consoles like xbox1 and ps4 wuold be having 8 cores

SO ON THE BOTTOMLINE FX6300's 6 CORE WOULD PERFORM BETTER AS TO DUAL CORE I3 IN HEAVY GAMIN MOREOVER U CAN O.C. 6300

For a newer game YES,Core i3 is Faster..There are at least 20% performance diferences between Core i3 3220 and pentium G2120, coz newer game are able to Maximize core i3 Hyperthreading Feature...But For an Old games, the Performance between those of two is very Close

I'm on a tight budget, so the i5 isn't an option. I play games like Far Cry 3, BF3, Skyrim maybe idk, Team Fortress 2, almost every game lol

Not a lot of games use more than 2 cores, the i3 can beat a fx6300. And if I go amd, I would need to get an aftermarket cooler because the stock one is bad. That adds another €30. But that was not my question. My question was: is the €40 worth it for an i3 over a Pentium G2120?

What games use 4 cores? Tell me some I want to know (no offense)

Something you need to know first is how many cores the games you want to play will use.

If only 1-2 cores, go with the i3.

In games using 4+ cores, the i3 rapidly falls behind an FX 6300 or i5 even at stock speeds.

Decide based on which CPU is most fit for the purpose.
