This is my 1st post here, and I commend the contributors, as there is a wealth of diverse information. I applaud you all. Through this site alone, I became aware of 1Rx8 and 2Rx8. Here goes...

Is there a difference between 2Rx8 DDR2 PC2-5300U-555-13-E0 and 2Rx8 DDR2 PC2-5300U-555-12-E0? These are Micron chips.

The first, I already have installed (at 1GBx2) and am about to add two additional 1GB modules. As a newbie, I don't want to mess-up anything. So, is there anyway to tell from the last-4 characters if this combination would work or conflict?

Your feedback will be awaited, and thanks in advance.

No, the difference is very minute. As mentioned in one of the earlier posts the difference between the tRAS values is negligible and it will work. Yes, the combination will work but you may want to flash the latest BIOS for your system before you add any memory.

Good luck with the upgrade. Cheers, mate!!

Thank you both! Especially, for the "heads-up" regarding the BIOS flash. I'm preparing for a few upgrades on my older pc, inclusive of a graphics card and OS. Finding a graphics card has proven to be a challenge already.
