Foxconn P4M800P7MA-RS2 only detects 512mb of RAM with 1GB DDR2 installed

Hi, recently bought a dead old 775 Foxconn motherboard for a very cheap price. At first glance I found out that there were flawed capacitors, so after I replaced them, the mobo booted normally. So I installed a Pentium D 940 and a 1gb 800mhz memory module I had. Then I installed Windows XP and after installing the VGA drivers, I found out I couldn't set 1440x900 resolution. If I would set that resolution, my monitor would turn black with an "unsupported frequencies" notice. This was successfully resolved with a BIOS update. But to my surprise, there still was another problem. Windows recognized only 512mb of RAM, so I went to BIOS setup and saw that BIOS also recognized only 512mb of RAM. So my questions are, do you think I should replace the RAM module? or it's mobo problem? According to the specifications, this mobo supports up to 2gb DDR2 533mhz or 2gb DDR 400. But although the RAM module I installed is 1gb DDR2 800mhz, shouldn't it be visible with it's full capacity but working at 533mhz? I have to decide whether to buy new RAM or not, because I don't have another module to test. Thanks in advance.
