hello,
I am having a problem with my computer i recently bought off ebay. The first day it started up without any problems after a few times turning it off and on for updates and stuff the monitor would not turn on. so i tried pressing the power button but it would not turn off, so i stupidly unplugged the power cord from the wall and tried turning it back on. But it did not boot up no spin fans or anything, so i tried taking a RAM stick out and putting it back in and it started up. But now when i shut it down it does not power up and i have to either switch the RAM sticks around or take one out and put it back in. I took it into a repair shop the other day and they suggested it might be the power supply so i bought a new one and it seemed to work until i tried turning it on today so i think i shorted out my motherboard when i unplugged it. Do i need to buy a new motherboard? or do you think one of the Ram sticks might be faulty?

Thanks
-Jeff

Sure,
AMD Phenom II x4 945 processor
4GB ddr2
ATI radeon HD 5770
Biostar Mcp6p m2+ motherboard
the new power supply i bought is a Visiontek 500W the old one is a 400w thats why the employee in the store suggested i buy a new one because she thought the 400w couldn't power my graphics card or something. and we tested it in the store it started up with no problem and when i got it back home it started up fine too. it was the day after when the problem continued.
