So recently i began to encounter a problem. im using a dell inspiron 530 and its been a while since i used it.
Now that i connected the monitor nothing shows up so what i did was grabbed another tower i have there lying around and it does display everything.
with the dell inspiron 530 the tower turns one and i hear the fan and everything but nothing shows up on the monitor and the small power light goes from green to orange.
what should i do next?

It may be that you reset the bios and disabled keyboard and mouse through usb and it's set to only use the ps2 ports. When you removed the battery it clears your BIOS configuration. Maybe try to enter the BIOS by tapping f8 right after you power on, and see if there's anyway to change the settings such as enable legacy keyboard, or disable ps2 keyboard/mouse. If none of this works maybe try using system restore
