I was going to save up a little more money to buy the asrock 970 extrme4, until I found out about microATX motherboards. Now it seems to make more sense to buy the Asrock 960GM. It's cheaper, takes up less space and is compatible with my CPU and GPU. I feel like I'm missing something, what's the incentive to buy a full size atx?

The 970 Extreme4 is much better than the 960GM, it has a much more modern chipset and better VRMs (particularly good if you overclock).

In general, mATX motherboards tend to have worse VRMs and cost a little more for a similar level of quality, plus of course they have fewer expansion slots.
