Hello everyone,
My name is Sam (a.k.a. Warsam71), AMD’s newest Community Manager helping with everything enthusiast: Gaming, APUs, GPUs, CPUs, events and much more…
About me:
I’ve been in the gaming industry for more than a decade, where I have worked on numerous titles including Tomb Raider, Hitman Contracts, Just Cause, 25 To Life, Age of Conan, Alice Madness Returns and Rift to name a few (phew), and currently playing in the open beta of World of Warplanes by Wargaming.net. My first console was the Atari 2600, followed by the Commodore 32 and 64, Intellivision, all the PlayStations and X-Boxes…you get the idea.
On the PC front - I started with an 80286 processor based PC where I played a golf game on a monochrome screen, and got my first taste of the “pre-internet era” via BBSes, remember? From there I went through every processor type and played hundreds of FPS and Action Games (i.e. from Wolfenstein 3D to every COD).
I’m gonna be the guy behind “^ST” on the @AMDGaming Twitter handle, and you can also follow me @Samshaw71.
I’m here to help you in any way I can. So, feel free to message me with any thoughts, comments, and questions you may have.

Way to go Sam. Thanks for stepping up to the plate and putting yourself out there. Now about that Crossfire and Eyefinity thingy....
Quote from PC Perspective:
"When I asked AMD for more details on WHY Eyefinity wasn't fixed with this release and why it technically was presenting more of a problem, they didn't want to get into it. My theory still revolves around the compositing engine that AMD is using for CrossFire and the amount of bandwidth it can handle. Moving a frame of 2560x1600 pixels 60 times a second is taxing but 5760x1080 uses about 50% more pixels is where things seem to break down for AMD. I will be curious if its even possible for AMD to fix the frame pacing issues with CrossFire and Eyefinity this generation."
http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Cards/Frame-Ratin...
Thoughts?
Oh, and when is the release date for the 9970? Will it be on 20 nm? Will it beat a Titan?
Thanks again, feel free to ignore anything you wish. I just thought I would ask some of the questions everyone here at Tom's is dying to know.

Samshaw, I see you have made accounts on anandtech and techreport, and some users have voiced concerns towards the legitimacy of your claims. If you could provide proof that you are who you claim to be it would be much appreciated. I am not trying to make you sound like a fraud, however AMDGaming last posted on Twitter on August 5th, and does not mention you in any of the top posts, and your personal Twitter is blocked to non-subscribers. Official proof would be very appreciated as I look forward to reading your responses with full confidence that you actually represent AMD. Also making your Twitter public would definitely boost my confidence in you as otherwise I will not be able to shrug off suspicions that you are trying to gain more subscribers, tarnish AMD's name, or have some other hidden agenda.
Thank you for your time!

As a certified company rep on this forum credentials have to be provided before a special title is given, Warsam has such a title.

Hello, Samshaw! If you can share any information, *ANY*, on the 9000 series GPUs, even the way they smell I will print it out and frame it on my wall.
Also, what avenue got you into the industry? Hardware or software?
hmmm, I can tell you it will smell really good! Just stay tuned
Actually, both. First, I was all about hardware, building PC (for gaming purposes), then got into software, working for various game publishers. Now, back on the hardware...with AMD

I will only ask you for one thing. Is the volcanic islands group of GPUS coming out this year? Or is it just a refresh? I NEED TO KNOW SO I CAN HAVE MONEY TO THROW AT YOU!!!! Please be 20nm....

Hello 17seconds - we have already committed to a "phase 2" frame pacing driver that will address Eyefinity, 4K, OpenGL and DirectX9. We currently don't have an eta on this driver...(just setting your expectation regarding the time)

Warsam71 please address the claim that Amd will not be releasing any steamroller fx processors on the AM3+ platform and that piledriver was their last CPU only design. This is very important to many enthusiasts and it seems to be overlooked by the roadmap. Agree to this. Many of us enthusiasts are concerned about only seeing a 4core Steamroller part for 2014. We are eagerly awaiting AMD's Desktop Roadmap for 2014, but all we've been given so far is that AMD will be sticking with 8 core Piledriver "Vishera" units for the performance desktop market, which is disappointing to all of us, considering that Steamroller cores are and will be available. Why only 4 cores? I can almost guarantee that any AMD fan will wait for and purchase an 8-core Steamroller FX if AMD would just announce it. Any news on that front would be great appreciated by all.

Hi Sam,
I've been trying to decipher what is happening with AMD's gaming oriented CPUs. You guys have been absolutely silent on desktop roadmaps for what's going to happen and I"m not sure what to make of it.
You've basically gotten the entire gaming industry to optimize for your GPUs, CPUs, and HSA and I just flat out find it really, really odd that with this huge advantage you're going to walk away from the fastest growing segment of desktops (PC gaming rigs), primarily CPUs. I would understand if we saw APUs with more than 4 threads anywhere but we don't.
I was also wondering if it's possible for AMD to squeeze an APU onto AM3+ where the GPU portion of the chip would only be used as an HSA/GPGPU device. I realize it wouldn't have any means of video out but it'd be a very nice solution to GPGPU in games as opposed to Nvidia's (retarded) solution of throwing more calculations at the component of a gaming rig that is usually the bottle neck (I'm looking at you, CUDA PhysX).
I think I"m asking too much but just a little hint about desktop CPU plans would be wonderful. I've been dual booting Gentoo and Windows 7 and my FX 8350 mauls Intel in Gentoo. Lame was 60% faster which put it ahead of 3570k per Tom's results and I beat a 3930k clock for clock in Blender (I had to comfort my friend when he realized I had a better Blender machine and my CPU + motherboard + water loop cost less than his CPU alone).
Are there any bright spots on the horizon for someone like me? I know the amount of people using GCC 4.8.x on Gentoo is probably really low but I'd love to know. I love this chip, it's the only thing left that's fun to overclock. That and it's the greatest Linux chip ever devised (in my opinion, at least).
EDIT: I was also wondering if we're going to be able to see "FX Optimized" builds ship with games where they are compiled with CFLAGs enabled for FX. Something that displays some sort of large, sarcastic message about "This program won't run on your Intel CPU because it doesn't support FMA3" or something. That would make my year

hello everyone,
Just wanted to inform you and set you expectation. I can't elaborate on any undisclosed information, I'm sure you'd understand.
That being said, some of you have sent me PMs, which I always welcome. It's the best way for me to keep track on everything...and more importantly gives me the ability to respond to you.
