hang-the-9 :
If you are far away from the router, you will get slow speeds, so will using the VPN connection. Test the speeds using an ethernet cable. Check the web browser settings and shut off the proxy if it's set to on or autodetect. Although that message may only be because the troubleshooter is trying different settings and is not really an issue with anything.
Sounds like you are asking the wrong question, which should be about your slow download speeds, not about that message.
What speed did you purchase form the ISP? Did you contact them already?
Browser settings are fine, adapter settings are fine on the router.
I phoned my ISP (Turk Telekom thru TTNet) three times and told different things each time ranging from I'd exceeded my download limit and TT had throttled the internet connection; there's nothing wrong with my line but they can send a technician; and its your modem (router).
On the 4th time of calling customer services they confirmed that my line needed "upgrading" as they call it over here and the connection had been throttled. After the upgrade it was back to 3.4 mbps.
I pay 65 TL for unlimited internet each month, but they throttle it down to 1.7 or lower if you go over around 60GB or sometimes less depending how they feel that particular month and add surcharges if you go over or a technician is called out. Usually I connect at 3.4 or 3.5mpbs ... if a TETech or Telecom engineer could see the mess of wires sticking out the wall in the apartment hallway I think they'd have a fit!
I'm still getting the adapter message when troubleshooting but will leave it as don't really know what's causing it.
I thought maybe the router was starting to go into meltdown as its in the high 30 degrees over here and it gets real hot.
Thanks for your input hang-the-9
