Hi Guys,
I have a Lenovo Y510p with and Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 2230 card. The laptop will only stay connected to our home network for about three minutes at a time (the network works fine for all the other printers, computers, tablets, etc. in the house. Our access point is a Linksys E3000 that is connected to a Verizon Actiontec DSL Modem/Router. I've changed channels, etc. on the e3000 and reset the router also. I've done the netsh resets, however some of them say access denied. Also the laptop connects fine to other networks. Is there anything I can do?

Thank You!

Try plugging into your router using a straight-through ethernet cable instead of using wireless. If you are having driver issues, you will still...

What wireless encryption are you currently using? WEP, WPA, WPA-2 AES ?

Windows 8 has compatibility issues with older wireless encryption standards. If not already try to change your encryption to WPA-2 AES

Hope This Helps,
Josh :)

I tried that already and a driver roll back:??: The driver roll back worked for awhile, but it stopped again this morning.

I did the driver rollback, but how do I run an adapter in compatibility mode? Is it the same as running software in compatibility mode?

Try plugging into your router using a straight-through ethernet cable instead of using wireless. If you are having driver issues, you will still disconnect. If your connection is stable while using the hardline, your wireless card may be defective. I have an Acer Aspire 7530 laptop (it's a dinosaur, but i've never had a problem until recently) and last week it started doing the same thing your laptop is doing: connecting via wireless and disconnecting every few mins or so. After some investigation, it was determined that my wireless card is burning out and simply needs to be replaced. If you have reset all your TCP/IP stacks, your WINSOCK, and your wireless router, there should be no reason as to why you cant connect.

If you don't think that your wireless card is defective, try using an external wireless adapter instead of the built-in adapter. Again, if it's a driver issue you will still disconnect. But if that wireless adapter holds a connection without any issues, your intigrated wireless card is faulty.

The only other possible cause I can think off is a third party application causing an issue.

Please start your machine in Safe mode with Networking and report back (OPTION THREE ONLY) - Safe Mode

If it works, then you have a third party application causing the issue. If not then either driver or physical issue. Test on a different network (Possibly a friend or relatives?). If the connection is stable then it will be your router. If not then most likely your machine.

Hope This Helps,
Josh :)
