Hi. I have a desktop with Pentium dual-core CPU E5400 2.70Ghz, 4GB ram, 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate, a Zotac 2 GB graphics card Nvidia GeForce 430 series, with master 1 TB hard drive and a secondary hard drive of 500 GB.
The problems began a few days back while playing Black Ops on my PC. During gameplay, there was a blue screen, system restarted and said, "4th slave disk error" and then gave the message "Restore system disk or boot disk.....".
After taking it to a shop (because I did not want to wreck my PC further. Only recently, I had to buy the Zotac after my ASUS 1 GB agp died. Also the 1 TB hard drive is new), the hardware expert told me that the hard drives are all good because no data has been modified or corrupt. But he identified the problem is that Bios changes the boot device priority. Although boot priority is saved with 'CD-rom' followed by '1 TB hard drive' as master, this changes to 'CD-Rom' followed by '500 GB Hitachi' when the computer reboots. He told me that the problem is possibly with the mainboard.
However, even while struggling with the PC, when I am in the internet browsing, it slows down. Also, I cannot play any games. They slow down and then hang altogether.
Please, you guys, tell me what I should do? How can i diagnose what the problem is?
