Another CPU question.

Hi, I've been posting a lot questions lately, but that is because I value your personal experience above all the charts and graphs.
So, I currently have a FX-6100 CPU, but its performance is not just enough for me. So, I decided, since I have an AM3+ MOBO, that I could get a FX-8350. It goes for a really good price in my country (around 160€). And, here come the questions: 1. I have a 600W PSU and I'm running a FX-6100 and a HD7870 off it. Will it be enough for the 8350? 2. I am using a Gigabyte GA-970 MOBO. Do I need to change it, or can I keep this one? 3. What do I need to know, before I eventually change my CPU? You know, security and stuff like that.
4. Is it good for gaming? I mostly play games, which are GPU intensive (i. e. Battlefield 3) and my 7870 handles them pretty damn well. But, from time to time, I also like to play some Assassin's Creed 3 and I know, that that game is extremely CPU intensive. Will the 8350 handle AC3 and other CPU intensive games well?
Thanks for your time!

Solution
hmm, looking at the 7870 it haves 2 six pin power connector, meaning 75W *2 = 150W plus the 75 watts that can be pulled from the PCI slot, so the maximum theoretical power consumption from that GPU is =225Wat

FX-6100 CPU from reviewers used 180W max, and the 8350 can reach 200W on load, so thats :

425Watts

Add RAM and HDD + mobo and fans and stuff like that =30W - 50W maximum

So your talking about 450W-500W power usage, so your 600W can handle it.

And the 8350 will be much better upgrade and it will satisfy your CPU thurst, cause simple compare the fx 6300 with the fx 6100:

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+FX-6100+Six-Core

And note that your are upgrading...

Thanks! And how is it with instalation? Do I just smack it into the MOBO, start the PC and I'm done? Or do I need to update my BIOS? Maybe some drivers?

You will need BIOS update, you need BIOS version 11 or higher according to this page :

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3908#bios

If the above is your mobo, please perform the BIOS update prior than installation of the new CPU, after the BIOS gets updated, simply slam the new CPU into the motherboard, and everything will tick accordingly, and no need for anything else after that.
