Very occasionally my computer's mouse cursor will freeze and then I will be given a single CPU beep. The mouse will only freeze for around half-1 second before resuming and working as normal.

How do I find out what kind of problem it is? This is a home-built computer with fairly new hardware(between 1-2 years old) I've done all the basic stuff like update drivers, clean windows files, virus scans.

It appears to be more common when i'm browsing the web, although that could just be because that's what I do most of the time anyway.

Any ideas on where to start looking to solve this?

thanks

Does your mouse replicate this behavior on another computer? I only ask because we can determine if it is a mouse issue or a PC issue.

Is it a wireless or wired mouse?
If wireless could be a problem with communication/interference
if wired could be a problem with usb port or better with integrated usb hub
