Hi guys.
I´ve recently purchased a 7970 VTX X-EDITION from a guy here in Spain for around 250€,shipping included.
The GPU arrived and it´s brand new,as he said.
It also comes with 2 years warranty.
I´ve never had such a good GPU,being the main reason to purchase one.
This morning I got the purchase as an upgrade to my 7850 2GB.
Man,this thing is huge.
I am using it with a Core i7 860 @ 3,5Ghz,8GB DDR3 1333Mhz RAM and a 620W PSU 80Plus(CM RealPower).
It is running great, around 10 to 20 FPS more that my 7850 and I am getting for example 44 FPS and 1800 Score on Valley Benchmark at EXTREME HD.
In Unigine Heaven,at maximum/extreme settings,getting around 30FPS or more and 950 score.
I am wondering what do you guys make of it?
Is it performing the way it should or my CPU is bottlenecking it?
Cheers.

if you think its bottleneck best way to test it is OC your CPU just OC it 4.0ghz and your GOOD no bottleneck and pretty much 4ghz is sweet spot and removes all bottleneck, if you got BF3 play a 64player match or run something thats CPU intensive and get a OSD of your GPU usage and if usage is not going to 99% or 100% or something then you has CPU bottleneck make sure Vsync is off

The best way to check your potential bottleneck, which I doubt is a major problem, is to just run a game with VSync OFF and Afterburner's hardware monitor running in the background. Check your GPU usage after running the game, anything below 99% is an indication of how much your system is holding you back. You can also use PrecisionX, GPU-Z, etc.

I´ve just did that with my CPU running now at 3,6Ghz now(versus stock clocks of 2800Mhz).
I´ve tested the only 2 games I have installed right now.
Saints Row:The Third(all ultra) and Metro:Last Light(max,NO SSAA)
GPU Usage when starting the game is between 91 to 99% GPU usage.
After a while,it stays on 99% and every now and then dips to 98 or 97.
Cheers and thank you.

After half an hour in Metro:Last Light, the GPU usage is constant 98%-99%.

no apparent bottleneck but try doing the same thing using crysis 3 or bf3. these games are more cpu intensive.

These are the FPS I am getting in games,on maximum settings(or close):
(Saints Row:The Third and Metro:Last Light):
Saints Row:The Third(1080p,everything ULTRA-going crazy and shooting rockets,etc):
Min:46,Max:87,Avg:68.

Metro:Last Light now(1080p,all set to maximum with NO SSAA):
Min:45,Max:88,Avg:61.

Are my FPS normal for a 7970?
Cheers.
