Hi,

Will the corsair h100i fit into an aerocool vs-9 case? i've been stuck with the stock fan that came with my AMD FX6100 processor, and i really need a good CPU cooler, so i thought i'd go for this.

Thanks,
James

I don't think so.

Hydro Series H100i requires a case with dual 120mm fan mounts with 15mm spacing for a 240mm radiator

Your case only has 2x120mm fan spots on the side panel, not on the back, so I doubt it would fit.

If you just want a bit better cooling, spend $30 and get the Evo 212 fan instead. If you're stuck on spending money for a closed loop water system, then the 80i might fit in your case better

See i thought about mounting it at the top of the case, i know it would fit length ways, but its the depth onto the motherboard that i'm unsure of.
I'm really set on water cooling but don't want to get a full water cooled system because i know my components dont need it, however, the h100/80 give me great cooling, they're easy to set up and they have the potential to deal with better components when i upgrade.

I think if i definitely know it doesn't fit i'd get a h80i and mount it at the rear as an exhaust fan, would that be the best idea, or is there something better you can recommend?

i'll check that out then, thanks for the help and fast reply's.

Completely off topic, but i'll ask anyway: these are my components:

  • CPU-AMD FX6100
Motherboard - Gigabyte £50 (cant think of make and model off the top of my head)
Graphics Card - Asus Radeon HD7750
RAM - cheapest 2x4gb sticks i could find
    HDD - 500GB cheapest possible
    case - Aerocool vs-9
    PSU - 500w bronze certified

i'm trying to build from this starter gaming rig up to a quite decent one for not a huge amount of money. So which parts do i replace and upgrade, and what for?

Thanks again!

Problem is my pc is resetting because it's getting too hot :S so a cooling unit that's decent is required.

I'm setting aside about £75 per month every month to put on my PC so i can't exactly give a clear figure.

The problem is i didn't do enough research when i built this PC 6 months back, and the parts are actually just out of date, and the parts are very average but still run CoD in high settings, but it's killing the parts and i can see it.

i really want to go water cooled though, i've read up on open water cooling systems and how they aren't hard to set up and worth the money, can you recommend one of them at a decent price? i know theres lots of components involved with them

If your dead set on open loop water cooling, then read the watercooling sticky and learn all about them. It can get very expensive fast and if you don't all the exact right parts and don't fit and test everything properly, hello soggy PC and a very expensive mistake. You've had lots of good suggestion including the tried and true Evo 212 for $30 that will cool most none-overclocked CPU's better than anything else out there, but you're jumping around, so decide what you want first, then learn about watercooling, then decide if you want to do it.
