Upgrading my PC and I'm looking between two options.

1) Finding a good processor (budget is around $150 but I can go a tad over)

2) Getting a new motherboard and buying the FX-6300 processor.

Cheaper route is the better; any recommendations for an LGA1156 socket?

lga 1156 is the predecessor of 1155 and sopports Intel Lynnfield and Clarkdale, imho a little bit old processors, i don't know if you will find it easy.
I suggest an FX6300 or 8350 :)

As for the 1156 socket, I can only think of one CPU and you would be better off going with option 2 and sticking it in this mobo; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157262

It's one of the cheaper AM3+ socket boards but still has great performance and ASRock has awesome customer service and support. Hope this helps, and good luck with your build.

The linked mobo is for an AM3+ CPU, so no 1156 options there. That is a good choice if the OP decides to go the AMD route as previously suggested.

For the OP, why did you ask about a 1156? Do you have a current 1156 based system, CPU, or motherboard and are you looking for options for any of those components? Essentially, what do you have now?
