I'm a noob at all this. I had my friend build me a PC a few years back, I'm currently running a sapphire HD 5850 but was thinking about upgrading my GPU to a a sapphire HD 7870. My question is would I get any bottlenecks or will this even work in my PC? My specs are below.

Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.2GHz

PSU: OCZ mod x stream-pro 700w

MB: ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO

RAM: 8gb

More about : sapphire 7870

It'll be fine. If there is a bottleneck at all, it will be very small.

I had that same mothboard, slightly weaker processor (925) and used a 7850. You'll receive a little bottleneck but it's still a solid upgrade

i have a 955 and unless its a cpu intensive game i dont bottleneck my 7870 although it could perform a bit better if i upgraded but its nothing bad.

if the games cpu intensive i tend to use amd overdrive and activly overclock to 3.7ghz to help counteract it.

Should be called something like and system software, I would also grab the program called driver fusion to clean old driver remnants for best compatibility.

Uninstall old driver with old card in system and don't restart when asken then run driver fusion and cleaner and shut down your PC.

Install the new card then start PC Amanda install newest and beta driver 13.8
