Hey guys, I've been lurking around for a long time but never really had anything worth posting.

I do have a couple of questions that I haven't really been able to get any clear answers to. Here's my setup:

2X Nvidia GTX 560ti 2GB running in SLI mode.
Intel Core I7 3770K Ivy Bridge running on stock clock speed
32 GB Kingston Hyper-X Blu ram (8GBx4) - Overkill, I know, but I got a really good deal on it.
All running on a Gigabyte Intel Z77 LGA 1155 motherboard.

Not sure if all that's relevant, but there you go. :)
Basically my question is this. Why is it that when running my video card in SLI mode, can I only run 2 monitors? Each card has 3 outputs, so I would understand if I could only run 3 monitors, but why two?

This is mostly a concern because my end goal is to be able to run 3 monitors using Nvidia Surround. Now, I was able to take my cards out of SLI and set up the third monitor that way, I wasn't able to configure surround because apparently one of my monitors isn't compatible. So my question is, am I not going to be able to run surround and SLI simultaneously? If not, that more or less defeats the purpose of running dual GPUs.

I guess I'd just like some clarification on the subject from somebody who's a bit wiser than myself, or somebody who's run a similar setup. I'm just not sure I understand the logic here, or maybe I'm missing something. Please also let me know if there is somewhere more appropriate I should be posting this...

Appreciate the help in advance guys!

Solution
for nvidia surround 2 of the monitors are run on the primary card and the third monitor is run from the secondary card, an auxillary monitor can be run from either card but it wont be part of the 2D surround.

So, how will SLI fit into this? Can I run my cards in SLI mode? I question this because when I connected the third monitor while in SLI, I was greeted with a message saying SLI only supports 2 monitors.

I'll have to try this. Sadly, I can't at the moment because the GPU's aren't liking my third monitor (stating that it doesn't share a common resolution, sync rate or something like that). As long as it IS possible to run SLI and surround simultaneously I should be okay. I just wanted to be sure before I ordered my monitors..
