To remove a nasty virus, I formated my Windows 7 HP desktop to factory settings. However, Im stuck in a loop of options that wont get Windows to fully boot.
Safe mode is the only screen that will tell me, Windows is preparing for your first use, but then tells me I cant do so in safe mode. Says it will continue after restart. It restarts and then fails to do anything (it's jusy a black screen and computer isnt making any sounds to indicate its working).
If I try my Windows recovery disk (which is apparently not an installation disk) it just brings me to the repair menu, where I can do things like a factory reset. However, I already did the factory reset, so where can I go from here?
Windows forums said that factory reset would wipe out filea, but that Windows 7 itself would be brought back from the partition. If this is not the case, do I need to buy a Windows 7 disc? Would it work if I upgraded to Windows 8?
Thanks for bearing with me.
