I want to upgrade my CPU in my PC. I feel like it is bottlenecking my performance.. But I am fairly new to this, so I'm not sure how I know what CPUs are compatible with my motherboard.

I do know my motherboard used AMD chipset because my current CPU is AMD Athlon II X4 640 3.0ghz.

So what process would I take to be able to find out what CPU's I could replace it with without having to get a new mobo, etc.. Thanks.

Hi,

If you could post us your mobo, maybe you could just get a fx cpu.

Since your cpu is am3, your mobo could be compatible with them if it's am3+.

If not, it would be better to change the cpu/mobo/memory. DDR2 memory just doesn't cut it with modern game anymore.

Last resort, you could overclock your current cpu .
