Beware 13.8 Beta

So I uninstalled 13.6 and installed 13.8. I have had nothing, but problems since. Randomly when I am I my desktop my main monitor goes all brown/red lines and I can not see the start button to shutdown. Just now I did a hard restart and when I got to Windows I had an error message saying something along the lines of "The AMD display driver has stopped working correctly. Please reinstall the driver". So just a friendly warning, stay away from 13.8 for the time being. It is not working right.

13.8 just BSOD's for me so well done on getting that far with it!

Been running it since it came out, no problems whatsoever. Running two Radeon 6870's.

I'm back to 13.4 and everything is working fine. It's not my setup. It'd be quite a coincidence if it never happened before, but when I install 13.8 it randomly starts. Good to see Mousemonkey is having problems too.

I don't know if it's good or not :lol: but I'm also running 13.4 as its the only driver that will install without a BSOD.

So what OS does the driver work on then? Is there a specific OS that I should be using in order to get this driver to work?

Maybe, maybe not. I'm more interested in the possible solutions that might be put forward that don't involve driversweeper programs as that's all people seem to know these days.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. @Mousemonkey Don't ever use driversweeper. Ever. Last time I ran it I went to restart to normal mode (I ran it in safe mode) and got stuck in a BSOD loop at boot of DRIVER_IRQ_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL. I ended up reinstalling Windows becasue of it. Go through the overclock.net method for uninstalling AMD display drivers. I'm pretty sure you would know about it, but if not I will find a link.'

Just for reference here's an overview of my setup:
i5-3570k @ stock with a 212 evo
Asrock Extreme 4 Z77
Sapphire 7870 CF @ 1050/1250
WDD blue 1 TB
Sandisk 128GB
PCP&C Silencer MKii 750W
Corsair Vengeance LP 2x4GB DDR3 1600 MHz

For monitors I have an Auria 2560x1440 as my main going through a miniDP>DP adapater. My secondary is on DVI to a 1920x1080 Acer.

Don't worry I have no intention of using one of those programs because I am aware of how they can screw things up and if the method you were going to link to is something other than messing about with the system32 folder then I'd be very interested in taking a look at it, thanks.

Bookmarked under "Useful", thanks for that. I would do steps 1 to 14 before ripping files out of the system32 folder usually and now I have something further to try on top of that, excellent! And even if it doesn't work kudos for coming up with something other than a driversweeper program.

I don't suggest driversweeper because it gave me a BSoD as well.

Update: Success! I finally got the ah heck to install and it turns out that it was a driver issue after all! :lol:

The "Optional" components are not so optional.

Well good to see you got it installed. Let me know if you have any issues with it. The funny thing was all the hours of games I played on 13.8 went fine. Every issue I had was when I was just web browsing or doing nothing at all.
