Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a new desktop computer that has two dvi ports and is currently set up with dual monitors. I am using a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse with this machine.

What I'd like to do, if its possible, is use the same monitors and keyboard with my MacBook Pro and easily switch between using the two set ups. Ideally, I could sit at my desk, plug my laptop into ... something ... And use the wireless keyboard and monitors to work on my laptop, and then unplug my laptop and use my desktop.

Is this possible and if so what is the best way to accomplish everything? Thanks in advance for the help/ideas!

Ryan

That "something" would be a KVM.

Sorry for being such a noob, but I've never heard of a KVM and a quick search on Amazon returns products ranging from $20 to $500... Anything specific I should be looking for or stay away from?

Hmm, I would go look at the reviews. The ones I have I got a long time ago.

It's basically a box where you have multiple inputs and one set of outputs. You plug in all your computers on one end and the monitors on the other. The buttons/switches on the box let you select which computer is connected to the monitors.

I would give myself a budget, and then look at the reviews for that price range. You should alos check they have the ports you need. Older stuff with PS/2 ports and VGA will probably be cheaper than USB 3 and DisplayPort.
