Buying help good OC Intel cpu

Hello community. Im looking for some reccomendations on a great overclocking capable cpu from intel. Any input is good input. Thanks.

What would your budget be for this task and are you also looking for a motherboard ? Part of the overclocking process includes a good motherboard. Do you have any other components , ram , PSU, hard drives ?

The i5-4670k would be a good choice and if you had a good budget the the i7-3930k would be a great choice when combined with an Asus Rampage IV Extreme motherboard.

Your best choices will either be Sandy / Ivy bridge or the Haswells. Ensure that which ever you buy, it is the K model so it will be unlocked allowing for easier and more expansive OCing options.

I was going to pick out the motherboard after I got some info on the cpu. I dont have anything yet. Im building from the ground up. :)

One of the most OC friendly CPU intel has ever made is the 2700K, it will overclock far better than any newer gen CPU, you have my word, check some reviews, you'll see that people could hit 4.8 to 5 Ghz with high end air coolers. I used to own one for an old test bench, and if liquid cooled, that thing can go up to crazy numbers.

Check RoG. If you're looking for great potential grab a Maximus VI Formula when released and stick a 4770k in it and invest in some massive cooling and your OC will be massive. But generally speaking, the i5 me tend above with VI gen asus mobs are going to give you outstanding performance for your money. Good luck.
