I have a Netgear R6300 and Fios Actiontec router. I would like to be able to setup my fios router downstairs and Netgear router upstairs. I have a Cat5 connecting the two of them but I can’t seem to get them working together. I need to keep the actiontec for video and voice service. Here’s what I did.
1. Hard reset both routers
2. On the Fios Router, I changed the IP starting range from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.3
3. On the Netgear router I clicked on Advanced -> Setup -> LAN Setup
i. Changed IP Address to 192.168.1.2
ii. Left Subnet Mask as 255.255.255.0
iii. Unchecked “Use Router as DHCP Server”
4. Connect a CAT-5 cable from the LAN port on the Fios router to the Internet port on the Netgear router
5. Reboot both routers
This does not work. After I reset both routers again, I am unable to connect to the Netgear router again without doing a hard reset. I am able to connect to the Fios router just fine.
Does anyone else have any personal experience with the Netgear N6300 router and Actiontec routers together? I've seen online that it's possible, but the steps I take to replicate what I see online is not working for me.
Thank you!
