I've been told that my MOBO msi 790XT-G45 is combatible with the phenom II. The specs say it has the AM3 socket type. My MOBO says its AM2+. Does this mean its AM2 or greater compatible? Meaning the AM3 will work on my msi 790XT-G45?

If so why am I limited to the phenom II? Why is this so difficult? I just want the eat CPU for my MOBO. $200 or so.
HELP

No, the two at the top of the list are some of the slowest!

What country are you in?

The Phenom II X6 may be above your budget, so the Phenom II X4 may be the way to go.

Newegg(USA) does not have any Phenom II X6 and the only Phenom II X4 they have is not compatible with your motherboard.

Here is the fastest one for your motherboard Phenom II X6 1090T

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003FVI2KQ?ie=UTF8&seller=A168YW697SU3UM&sn=entermediaplus

It is used, but the seller (entermediaplus) has 12,000 transactions and it is in your budget.

You still need some thermal compound and a heat sink, which you can get at Newegg or most places.

Google "How to replace your CPU" and the first three are AMD Customer Care Team, Hardware Secrets and PCWorld that should give you a good overview.

Since you asked in your other thread, the reason the 1090T is the fastest is the Six cores, 3.2 GHz, the 3MB of L2 cache and the 6MB of L3 cache.
