If it should have one and doesn't, it doesn't really surprise me coming from MSI - they have some of the poorest QC of any of the mobo makers...you can short it by turning the system off, unplugging and short the two pins with a screwdriver, or the old reliable easier method is to unplug the PSU and remove the battery for a few minutes then reinstall it

glad that it worked for you ! I suggest, take a photo of that and mail it to MSI .. who knows, they may apologise and give you some goodie ! =D ..

HEH .. i just realised .. you sure that the motherboard box was not tampered with when you received it? You sure all the accessories are in that box .. or it could have been opened before it got to you?

:pt1cable:  Never know ;)  They might even send you the jumper that should have been there in the first place :bounce:

aha ! you are an asus user ! are u a happy asus user?

I am thinking of buying Asus Maximus VII Ranger 32GB DDR3 Intel Motherboard.. I have never used asus product before .. I have always been using intel motherboards and stock cpu fan and never had any issues .. this has made me bit of intel fanboy .. but .. intel stopped making motherboards .. they didnt make any z97 ones .. and I am buying a new pc .. i7 4790k new devil's canyon .. and I need to decide on a motherboard for that .. I have reached following conclusions yet ..
I am from India.
MSI - crappy , bad quality control, good local support
Gigabyte - a few happy users, average local support .. too less number of inputs to decide yet.
ASRock - New arrival in India .. so no idea about local support .. will call some local vendors to find out what general customer opinion is about them
Asus - few more than gigabyte happy users, 1 bad review on durability but on very old model, average local support.

so generally I am thinking of asus and pinging people who's system signature says asus motherboards =D

thanks man !

I've been in systems for over 30 years, (started with Big Iron (mainframes)) and since setting in with PCs and servers, have prob used all the different mobo makers, Asus has always had good mobos, these days, there's only three brands that I will use for client builds Asus, the Rock and GB....Normally I'll look at who I consider the best for a given chipset as what I'll suggest first, on the Intel side ASRock had the best overall mobos in 1155 and Z77, in the Z87 (1150) it was Asus hands down, and of the Z97s feel it's Asus first again (all their Z97s I've built on so far are better than the Z87 models were (Hero, A, Pro and WS). Their products across the line (mobos, GPUs (have a pair of 780s in SLI in my Z87 Hero, and just today picked up a R9 290X Matrix Platinum for my Z97 Hero), sound cards, laptops and Tablets are all first rate, high quality products. GB (GigaByte is the #2 seller in the world for mobos and also has great GPU (particularly on the AMD side) and the Rock (ASRock) has become my #2 choice for Intel mobos (GB is #2 on AMD mobos, barely, over the Rock)....You mentioned MSI, They have been headed downhill for about 5 years now, I myself won't touch them for builds due to their poor QC

Think the Ranger would be a great choice, I'm eagerly awaiting their release in the States, it's a little brother to the Hero

thanks so much .. thats pretty in depth and to the point guidance.

I am just very curious to find out something regarding availability and release in states .. I find it near impossible that a motherboard would be first available in India and not released yet in states.. just beyond comprehension..

I think you are looking for some latest version of the same series?

I mean I cant yet buy the new system because i5 4690k just got released in India and I am still waiting for i7 4790k new devil's canyon to become available in india .. =)

Have no idea why they release different mobos here and there - have seen numerous folks in the States looking for and asking about the Ranger, but none yet for sell (and heard rumors it may not be released here), also waiting on the Z97 Formula and the Extreme
