How to clone a damage HDD?

Friends, My hard disk is not working properly, I cant format it ( It Hangs at memory checking screen) or I am unable to open it (It always hangs on the welcome screen). I have some important software but don't have any backup, Now how will I clone it? Please suggest me.

You can download Hirene's boot cd, just google it, there you have Norton Ghost and Acronis, two very good tools for cloning HDD. Or you can download EaseUS Disk Copy Home Edition, it's a free tool that can do your job. I would recommend Hirene's, because there you have more tools, you can check your HDD with HDat, or another tool to see in what condition is your HDD, do some repairs if necessary.

Try ddrescue.

Ddrescue can perform multipass cloning. It clones the easy sectors on the first pass, and attempts the more difficult ones on subsequent passes. It can also clone your drive in reverse, thereby disabling lookahead caching. It keeps a log, allowing it to resume after an interruption.
