will this brand of gtx 670 work with the alienware x51?

Solution
Pretty sure they use a special 670 which is TINY. Like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121768&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-Desktop+Graphics+Cards-_-N82E16814121768&gclid=CI3HnLW8k7kCFQ-i4AodO2sAUw

That one you listed will not fit. No chance.

Also, they come with a different PSU depending on the card and even if you had the bigger PSU I believe they use a low power gtx670 and an aftermarket card will likely not work.

Sorry, those slim prebuilts just really aren't upgradeable.

I'm pretty sure it's not, seeing as dell offers the 670 as a component for the x51..

Yes this card will work in your system. You just need to remove a small metal fan grill held in place by plastic pins. When you receive the card make sure to downclock your GPU to 76 or 70% using MSI Afterburner. If you have an original X51 like me it doesn't manage the power as well as the newer one's CPU and that in combination with an altered version of their new GPU means you have to downclock otherwise most games will shut your PC down.

I had that same exact card in my X51- it's a pain, there's no doubt about it but at those power levels it runs (loudly) much better than you'd expect.
It generally runs modern games rather well- Titanfall for example at extreme runs at around 40-50FPS with some drops. If you tweak your setting slightly and increase the power draw to 76% you can get 60FPS consistently.
