I recently purchased a Samsung 840 SSD and tried ti migrate my existing C partition using the latest version of the bundled software to have it fail with a message along the lines of 'failed to read from source disk'. I then purchased the Paragon Migrate 3.0 software thinking I'd have more success but that too has failed twice with a similar message ' failed to read source'. I'm running win7 64bit, with my C partition being about 200GB and the new SSD being 500GB.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Andy

Solution
The likely cause will be down to permissions set in windows to do with files.
Some times you have to elevate your account status to Admin if the account you are using is of a standard type.

Or your trying to clone your C: drive in the system while windows is running.
the drive is in working operation you are trying to clone.

To put it shortly, trying to clone a drive where it is active and windows is running on it at the same time will cause a problem as you have found out.

Because it is active the data is constantly changing, because windows OS is running and reading and writing to the drive in question you are trying to clone.

The drive you intend to clone must not be running windows.
Example.

Windows running on another drive...

Windows running on another drive with paragon.
Place the ssd drive in the same system you intend to clone.
Place the new drive to clone too.

Hope it makes sense.
