Corsair 300r fan noise

So I've just finished up my build in a corsair 300r. I've placed an additional 4 case fans in it. The Cooler Master silent Fan 120 Sl1 to be exact. 2 on top(exhaust) and 2 on the side panel(intake).

My intake fans seem to make a pretty annoying noise since they take in air from the honeycomb grill. As soon as I take them of the side panel you can barely hear them. I’ve tried adding small rubber rings when placing them on the side panel but it’s still the same.

What’s the best solution to fixing this problem??

Only way I know of is to get a cable that has a resistor to slow them down or to spend $25 for a NZXT fan controller. Both available on Newegg.

I, too, was fairly annoyed when I discovered how loud my fans were being with sucking all that air through those grills.

Your motherboard may have a feature in the BIOS (Smart Fan) or some sort of program (AI Suite, with ASUS) that can help you control fan speeds; even 3-pin fans. Alternatively, I do believe Speedfan, a downloadable third-party program, allows you to do this.... although I have yet to confirm this with 3-pin fans.

EDIT: Personally, I stopped with the side fans. One day, I'll do some further experimentation, to see if I can "fix" the issue. Meanwhile, though, I put in another 140mm front intake. :\
