Hi,

i thought of buying a laptop with following features

Dell Inspiron 17R N5720, i7-3632 Quad Core 3rd Gen, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, 17.3" HD+

only thing i noted here is the present of low Graphics card HD 4000.

please clarify me whether this configuration is feasible? and please tell me the negatives in it

The HD 4000 graphic is the most negative. By this, your CPU will be wasted without a gfx like GT 650/750M

The video card is only an issue if you want to play games on the thing. Would help if you listed what you wanted to use the laptop for.

Agreed with hang-the-9.

The graphics are only a issue if you will play a lot of newer games. Any older game or video programs will work just fine.
Honestly I tested the HD 4000 graphics in my i3-3225 before I bought a graphics card and was actually quite impressed by them. I was able to play Fallout New Vegas on a mixture of high and medium settings with AA off. At a high resolution to (1820x11** something. It was on a TV so odd resolution) I stayed around 30 FPS. I know the game has a few years on it now but it worked great. Played anything older I tried to play on it also without a problem. Looking at reviews, its about as good as an Nvidia GT 610. That's one of the lowest of the low end cards but it still can do light gaming.

Well, if for official usage, movies and browsing Internet, i3/i5 CPUs are enough, no need to go for i7. It would be nice if u tell us the usage. Right now in the US most of the i3/i5 Inspiron laptops are low voltage version (e.g. i3/i5-3xxxU instead of i3/i5-3xxxM). It's better to choose i3/i5-3xxxM rather than 3xxxU 'cause standard CPUs provide more process power than low-voltage CPUs. So as u mentioned, gfx is not important now, HD 4000 is quite enough for even 1080P or the future 4K (3840*2160) blu-ray playing, not mentioning other DVD/Youtube movies.

Yes you may want to consider an i3 or i5 laptop because they will use a bit less power than the i7 and still perform perfect for what you are wanting to do. You shouldn't notice the difference at any point because only using it for paper work, internet, some movies, and some really light games maybe you will never cause the i3 or i5 to work at their full potential. I would probably recommend an i5 ending with the U though. You probably want as much battery life as possible. You don't need a lot of power for what you will be doing, and the ones ending in U will use around half the power.
