HelloI I recently got a "new" GPU from a friend, a Radeon 6950 wich is an upgrade over my 5850, now the thing is whenever I open a game I can only play for a few seconds/minutes before the card starts making a weird noise (like if a small piece of paper was stuck in the fan) then the display drivers crash and recover, or the game simply crashes, sometimes the pc freezes and I have to kill the process...
The crash even happened when I was evaluating windows performance
My specs are:
Windows 7 64 Ultimate
Phenom II x4 945
Gigabyte 970A-D3 Rev 3.0
Seagate HDD 2tb
Corsair TX650w
THe old card was a 5850 DirectCU
The "new" one is a 6950
The weird thing is that my friend tried it and it worked just fine.
Things that I've tried:
1- Using Driver Sweeper to remove and reinstall video drivers
2- Remove and reinstall the card/ RAM / PCI-E cables to see that everything is placed properly
3- Using CCleaner to fix the registry.
EDIT: Sometimes the game doesn't crash, but the card stops for a second and then restarts and the game continues for a bit until it happens again and so on...
Any ideas?
UPDATE: As it turns out, my PSU was dying and using a different one did the job! I'm getting a new one soon, thanks
