DVD Drive doesn't fit in case

I have a LiteOn IHAS124-04 drive, and a Fractal Design Core 1000 case. The case said it supports 5 1/4 inch drives, and the LiteOn is one of those, however it doesn't seem to fit inside the case. The outside bit that sticks out barely fits through the hole in the case, and I have to force it through. There are now scratches on the side of the outer frame. The screw holes in the drive do not line up with the holes in the case. Have I bought the wrong DVD drive for this case? I didn't know there was anything other than 5 1/4 and 3 1/2 for drive sizes.

Solution

Solved it. The case has a front panel that you remove to insert the drive, so it actually has to stick out so that it will be in line once the front panel is back on. I was pushing it in all the way.

No, everything is brand new, the holes do not line up, the drive is very stiff to position correctly, and sticks out into the case quite a bit further than the drive bay.
