memory not recognised in my dell inspiron 1750 according to crucial scan, any ideas

Solution
Hi Craig
First check the installed memory recognized by the operating system (Type msinfo32 in the Startsearch/ run Box), if the data matches with the crucial scanner result- mean one of the module is not detected. You can consider, trying with individual memories, switching the slots- By the end on this you should be able to figure out if it’s a faulty memory/ faulty slot.

What do you mean when you say that "memory not recognized in my Dell Inspiron 1750" acc to crucial Scanner? There are chances for some softwares to report error. Or check if all the memory modules are seated properly into the slot. Try CPU-Z scan - http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z/versions-history.html

If you need memory then try here - http://www.memorystock.com/memory/DellInspiron1750.html or use the scanner provide @ their site. Lemme knw if you need any more info.

OK.....First I wasn't expecting assistance and certainly not that quick so if you forgive my initial question I'll try and do better.
I ran a crucial scan to see what upgrades in memory I could do but the scan came back with only one slot being used, the memory is the original and fills both slots,I've tried taking them out and putting back in but the crucial scan still shows only one slot being used
