Hey all, just built my new computer (gaming primarily), including one stick of 8gb crucial ballistix ram @1600. I was told at microcenter that A) I really should have at least 2 sticks of ram, even though it is already 8gigs. and B) The other module really should be the same size (8gb) as well as speed, etc.

Is that really true? 1) I need at least two ram modules? If so, do they really have to both be 8gb? I would rather same the money and just get a 2gig one. Thanks for the help.

Its better to have two sticks of X RAM, to take advantage of dual channel which gives better performance. You could have 2 4gb sticks.

Jonothan above is correct,

However you don't need two sticks. The computer will run fine with just the one.

Correct, you do have *GB, which is good, if it were in DUal channel w/ two sticks, DRAM performance would be up to 10-15% better
