I've recently upgraded my computer with a 780 GTX and found that I'm having quite a large CPU bottleneck in a lot of MMO games. I was asking for help around here and I was told on multiple occasions to overclock my CPU. I just got my Noctua NH-D14 mounted and running, and I want to get this going. My concern right now is that I'm not sure my computer is stable and optimized at it's current stock settings. I'm getting weird Boot up problems, and hiccups/crashing here and there and I have no idea how to resolve them.

I want to start overclocking but I think anything I do is going to come out unstable because I think my current settings are unstable. I really have no idea what I'm doing anymore and I'm completely over my head. I feel like my CPU or RAM might be flawed or damaged but I'm not sure how to go about debunking that. I'm also concerned with my BIOS, I've never updated it since I put this computer together ( two years ago).

I'm really in the dark and would love some help. I'm convinced something is fundamentally wrong with my computer but I have no idea what. Here are my computers specs:

Intel i5 2500k 3.3GHz (Noctua NH-D14/default clocks)
