Upgrading my computer - is this CPU compatible?

Hi, guys. This is my current computer. About five years old. Recently updated the graphics card with a GeForce GT 640. I want to swap out my CPU with a new one. I have the Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor in mind. Will it work with my current set up? I find just swaping and replacing less intimidating than building my own computer from scratch as I literally have no one to help me build one even if I bought all the parts. Nor do I have any experience with it. Here's a link of all the parts I want to eventually buy.

Thanks in advance! :) Also...if I do decide to eventually build my own computer, how is that build (shown in link above!)?

It all looks good, but I have one suggestion. Since you already have a GT 640 video card, and the GTX 650 Ti isn't a huge improvement, I would suggest getting an SSD for your OS instead. It makes a really big difference in boot times and application load times if you install them there. I use mine for the OS and my applications, while using a standard HDD for storing music and movies and installing games, and that SSD made a HUGE difference in my system.

Okay. What if I upgraded my motherboard as well to the Gigabyte GA-Z77-HD3 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard?

That motherboard should work fine, but if you upgrade that you'll most likely need to upgrade your RAM as well. While it's possible that the DDR2 RAM in your current machine will work with the board, DDR3 RAM will not only be faster, but more reliable since the board was designed to work with it. You could potentially need to upgrade your power supply as well, since the newer motherboards and CPUs require more power, and between them and the GT 640 you have, I don't think a 300W power supply is going to be enough.

Hmm okay. Seems like I just have to upgrade mostly everything all in one shot. Would you kindly take a look at these parts I have picked out? Is it a good build? Any suggestions of what I could improve? I have a 1k limit. I might just go the build-my own-route at this point. Thanks!

Ok! Thanks for your help and input! I plan on using this computer solely for gaming so I'll take anything that improves performance!
