Do new motherboards support ddr2?

I don't know much about pcs, and want to upgrade my ram. It supports up to 4gb 800MHz (whatever that means). So I was going to get two 2gb ram sticks for my pc until I can afford to build a whole new Pc. But I was wondering if I where to buy a new motherboard and all in the future, are there any that will support ddr2 ram? My current motherboard only supports the ddr2 not the new ddr3. So that's why I was asking, because I would like to re use the ram whenever I did build a new pc and not buy ddr3. And if it matters, I am using it for gaming. Does ddr3 have any advantage in gaming anyways? Thanks.
Oh yeah, and also I was reading something about 24 pins or something! How do I know if the ddr2 ram I buy will fit my MOBO, or is all ram the same?

New motherboards only support DDR3, so you couldn't transplant your DDR2 to a new build. But you wouldn't want to anyway, because new CPUs would be held back by the old spec memory, even if it were a possibility.

Purchasing DDR2 supported memory is pretty useless. Yes, DDR3 has many advantages over DDR2 but it is overall advantage just not in the gaming terms alone.

If your motherboard supports DDR2 DIMM (desktop memory) then any DDR2 DIMM will (similarly for DDR2 SODIMM memory) but the question is does the memory type which you opt work with your motherboard.

Btw, could you let me know your motherboard model name and number? or try getting the memory from http://www.memorystock.com/ or http://www.crucial.com/ or http://www.Kignston.com/. You can use of their system scanner to find the right type of memory. Good luck!!

The MOBO I have is a MSI p965 neo.

P.S - Due to some restriction with PC2-6400U you can go upto 4GB of memory at max even though the motherboard support 8GB with other speeds.
