Hello

I am trying to find a way if at all possible to play with vsync off. My screens are both 60hz 1 hooked up dvi and the other vga to dvi adapter. When vsync is turned off it will of course cause screen tearing in games.

Co worker said that using hdmi cables will stop the tearing even with 60hz monitors.

I was also told by another person that you would have to buy 120hz monitor to avoid screen tearing with out vsync.

Just want further insight on how to avoid screen tearing with no vsync.

If you need my monitor models let me know. I will be home in an hour.

Thanks for the future help and info you guys provide.

My GPU is 550ti
cpu i72600
8g ram 1333
asus mb. forgot which model
if this info was needed.

If your GPU is pushing out more than 60FPS, then screen tearing is likely. Enable VSYNC, since your monitor cannot even display those extra frames, then WHY NOT DISABLE VSYNC????

EDIT : Enable not disable... Geesh I am sleepy.

I have figured it out. I turned my games into windows fullscreen mode. Turned vsync off and this letting me get over 60fps now with out the tear. Main reason I wanted this is for the program I use to record with. Since testing it it has made the game more stable during recordings.

What you wrote doesn't make sense. If you are over 60FPS and have vsync off, then you have tearing. You probably just don't notice it or your frame rate is close to 60.

I'm glad you have it setup in a way that makes you happy. That's all that really matters.
