windows xp pro sp3 freezes at boot...comp will not continue even in safe mode, hangs and have to hot boot it ..i know this is a hardware with possible corrupt files problem due to my.3yr old grandson snatching power cord from computer...not the wall socket..this is a msi all in one computer with touchscreen. I do not have the xp pro install disc,...is there a way to install windows vista on my computer? can I do a fresh install and would that possibly fix the hardware/possible corrupt files by doing a fresh install, with Win Vista install disc? if so how? thanks:??::p

I wouldn't even consider an "upgrade" to Vista for a second. If necessary, you can re-install either XP or likely can upgrade to Windows 7. (You'd need to check to see if your hardware is compatible with Windows 7 or greater.)

Most computers have a "recovery" partition built into them that will allow you to re-install the OS to the exact way it shipped from the factory. To access the recovery partition, watch for a message when you first boot your computer similar to "Press F2 for Recovery". Of course you'll need to press the key your particular manufacturer requires. (Usually F2, F10, or F12). You'll need to be quick because you'll only get a second or two to do so.
