So i recently finished building this rig over the past few months looking fir the best parts for the best prices. I installed all of my components as New parts except for the hardrive which i scrapped from my old computer. I go to turn it on while its connected to the hdmi out from the mobo and it keeps saying no signal. I never even saw the motherboard's logo on start up. I've checked the cables and they all seem fine from close inspection. My motherboard is a gigabyte z87mx-d3h and the processor is an Intel core i5 4670k. The old harddrive is a seagate baraccuda 500gb that i want to format to use in this system. Can anybody help me with this problem? if you want more info on my rig i will be more that happy to describe more. Any help will be greatly ...... i mean greatly appreciated.

Do you even have a GPU? Its likely that your i5 doesnt have Intel HD graphics or your motherboard doesnt have onboard graphics. If you do have a GPU, connect the HDMI to the GPU not the Mobo

Well to my knowledge the cpu does have Intel hd graphics and the mobo box and instruction manuals don't say whether or not it has onboard graphics. I don't have a discrete gpu I can use since my budget at the moment is pretty tight. I've tried every connection from the hdmi and vga but it still says no signal. all the fans start up as well. I've checked the ram sticks to see if that was the problem but it still shows no signal. Im just confused as to why it wont even post at all. My power supply is a raidmax 700 watt psu 80+bronze and my ram sticks are crucial ballistix elite 2x4gb sticks. They are both placed on the 1st and 2nd chanell on the board as well. I have the 12 v rail plugged into the board so the cpu should be working. my hardrive isn't formatted since it came from another computer I had which had windows vista installed into it. I cant fromat it through another computer since all I have aside from this build is a laptop. I was thinking maybe the harddrive is at fault but Im not sure. Im a noob when it comes to building Pcs but I have been reading and studying a lot for this build. Im pretty tech savvy but Im just stumped here. Ive read about other peoples solutions but they all were on amd platforms. I doubt its a vpu compatability thing since the motherboard supports z87 chipset and my processor is an intel core i5 4670k. Im pretty desperate for a solution to be honest.
